If you don’t live in the UK or you’re not kettle-centric (as I am, in Canada) you probably take your kettle (and tea bags) for granted. But I’m indeed kettle-centric and absolutely devoted to quality tea so for me, my kettle choice  (as my Dualit toaster is for toasting all the great breads I bake) is a priority. I don’t take my selection of an electric kettle lightly – especially as aside from tea-making (and Ramen) duties, I need hot water at the ready for plumping raisins, soup-making, and a myriad of baking tasks in my test kitchen.

For one, it’s huge (but not that heavy when fully filled), whisper quiet as it comes to a boil, shuts itself off once it’s boiled (no worries as one does with range-top kettles), and has a gorgeous chrome-look, mirror finish stainless-steel body that looks as new day 365 and beyond as it does on Day one. In short: I adore it. It makes tea time a pleasure and the quality of the boiled water brews my find teas perfectly.  I think it’s large capacity is a huge selling point – no more constant refilling the usual 1 liter kettles that are so common. It doesn’t hurt that a mere swipe of a damp tea towels makes it shine as new.

At the price point, this is indeed an investment kettle (and also a great wedding gift) but it is like a thoroughbred horse that performs like a plow horse – in other words – is gourmet gorgeous as it is this is the most serviceable and long-lasting kettle I know. It actually ‘makes’ the kitchen as a staring visual note.
